Musgrave Station
A historic fortress telegraph station built in 1887 and is located on the northern access route to Lakefield National Park. The historical building, displayed memorabilia and traveller services makes this a popular spot to stay or visit. Accommodation is both furnished donger rooms and block motel units also furnished with twin beds, towels and linen supplied. Rooms are serviced daily. No cooking facilities are provided in-house. Torches supplied for after hours lighting. Share toilet/shower facilities. All meals are provided in the dining area of the main historical homestead. Set tour menus are very whole some and filling. Heritage Resort (Weipa)
Weipa is situated on the shores of Albatross Bay, on the west coast of Cape York Peninsula. The western coast of Cape York Peninsula, around Weipa, has the world's largest deposits of bauxite. The resort is located in the town centre (right next to Weipa's shopping complex, so if required the use of a public phone or if you would like to shop for souvenirs etc, this can be done at the shopping complex). Moreton Telegraph Station (Cape York)
Moreton Telegraph Station is situated on the banks of the fast flowing Wenlock River. Accommodation is our new safari camp complex set in light forest near the banks of the river. Twin Share safari tents, fully screened with beds, linen, furniture and 12v lighting. Meals are served in an open undercover dining area. Share toilet/shower facilities. Punsand Bay Private ReserveOne of the last genuine wilderness areas and also the gateway to the Torres Strait Islands. Punsand Bay Private Reserve is one of the few privately held pieces of land within 150 miles of Cape York. With 10km of private mainly northern facing beaches a magnificent sight is to watch the sun rise over the Coral Sea of the Pacific Ocean and set over the Arafura Sea of the Indian Ocean. Facilities:
Gateway Torres Strait Resort
Horn Island, one of the Prince of Wales group, lies in the Torres Strait and is located approximately 25km west-north-west of Cape York Peninsula and a short distance east-south-east of Thursday Island. Horn Island also host the airport for Thursday Island. In 1894 they discovered payable gold and the goldfield encompassed the whole Island (51sq km). In 1942 an airstrip was built on Horn Island as a staging base for fighter aircraft transiting to New Guinea. On 14th March 1942 Horn Island received its first Japanese air raid. Today Horn Island is a important air hub for the outer Torres Strait Islands. The Gateway Torres Strait Resort is located on Horn Island just a few minutes walk from the jetty, beach and local store.
