The Australian Outback is the heart of this vast country. It’s the place beyond the green edges, where life is hard and only the toughest survive. Our outback Aussie tours take you on paths that have been worn into the country by man and beast. Outback tours which have been crafted to deliver you the very best of history, nature, culture and flora. Oz Tours Safaris runs two outback safari tours, exploring very different parts of the Australian outback. The 15-day Birdsville, Strzelecki and Oodnadatta 4WD accommodated and outback camp tour runs through remote sand dune country, mining towns and includes Lake Eyre. While the 17-day Kimberley and Tanami Desert Australian outback safari tour, criss-crosses Western Australia and the Northern Territory, from the coast to the red centre.
Our Australian outback tours offer a combination of motel and camping accommodation. The 17-day tour only has 1 night in a motel, the rest is camping. This is due to the remote nature of the places we visit. All tours provide a connection to country.
Oz Tours Safaris outback safari tours are provided in purpose-built, 21 seat air-conditioned 4WD coaches. Each vehicle has wide view windows, with forward facing recliner coach style seats, retracting seat belts and footrests. They have a TV and PA system.

The Australian Outback is a landscape of red earth that occupies much of the country’s vast interior. It’s an unforgiving terrain which bears the mark of early settlers and their attempts to forge an existence here. Abandoned mines and townships bear testament to their efforts. It’s also a place rich with nature and culture and Oz Tours Safaris explore the best bits of the Australian outback on three very different outback safari tours.
The 15-day central desert outback safari tour includes the Birdsville, Strzelecki and Oodnadatta Tracks. It showcases what most visitors’ think of when imagining the Australian Outback; open space, endless dirt roads, red sand, extreme temperatures, no people and dangerous wildlife.
The Australian Outback is as harsh as it is beautiful. It covers about 80% of the state and has 1% of the population but is an absolute must see when visiting Australia. Even people who have travelled the whole world are taken by the beauty and absolute remoteness of the terrain, when they’re on an Australian outback holiday. Stony deserts, saltpans and sand hills roamed by kangaroos, dingoes and eagles can be expected when exploring this landscape
Learn the history and culture of the original inhabitants and the people who opened up this area to European settlers, on one of our amazing outback adventure tours. We trace the pioneer stock routes, the path of the old Ghan Rail track and stand at the very centre of Australia. Visit the sites and towns of a bygone era and take in the natural beauty of the ancient landscape of central Australia.
Outback travel Australia is always difficult through these parts. Even today there are only four main routes, each with an individual character and history. One of them, the Birdsville Track, is famed in Australian Outback history as the trail along which stockmen once drove their herds of cattle from Queensland.
Another, the Strzelecki Track, runs through remote, sand dune country to Innamincka and on to Cooper Creek. Both these tracks cut through the “dog fence”, a 5,600km long barrier designed to keep dingoes out of the pastoral lands to the south. Following the Oodnadatta Track, you will come across mining towns where people from all over the world have been turned loose in the maddening search for opal. Natural springs coming above ground from the Great Artesian Basin and remains of the Great Northern Railway and the First Telegraph Line are rewarding treats on these very remote tracks.
You must take your time to truly enjoy and inhale the outback spirit, on one of our outback adventures. You will come back enlightened, excited and more relaxed than you have ever been in your life.
The other is our epic 17-day 4WD outback camp tour in the Kimberley and Tanami Desert. This region offers one of the most spectacularly rugged coast lines in the world. The perfect place for an outback Aussie tour. A place of soaring red cliffs and cascading waterfalls, tidal rivers lined with dense rainforest, sprawling mangroves and all are teaming with wildlife. The area is virtually unspoilt, and for a very simple reason! It’s remote. It covers about 421,000 square kilometres, slightly larger than Japan and much larger than United Kingdom, New Zealand, or the Australian state of Victoria. The Kimberley has only three towns with a population of more than 2,000 (Broome, Derby and Kununurra), and the total population is only around 25,000. This outback adventure is 16 nights of camping and 1 night in a motel.
