Day 1
Early morning pick up from Oz Tours selected locations in Cairns as we travel via Kuranda Range, Mareeba and the Atherton Tablelands. We travel to Undara where we will enjoy a guided tour with a Savannah Guide through the 190,000 year old Lava Tubes. Overnight accommodation with ensuite facilities.
Day 2
Leaving Mt Surprise following the Gulf Development Road to Georgetown where, time permitting, we have an opportunity to visit the Terrestrial Centre housing the Ted Elliott Mineral Collection (own cost) Todays final destination is the magnificent Cobbold gorge with its ancient landscape and cruise the secluded waterway with a Savannah Guide.
Day 3
Today we travel through Croydon & Normanton and then to Karumba for a sunset Cruise. Overnight accommodation in Karumba with ensuite facilities.
Day 4
Following the Savannah Way to Adel’s Grove where we will stay for 2 nights. We arrive early afternoon where we can once again enjoy a swim and explore the surrounding area. Camping with facilities
Day 5
Today we visit Boodjamulla National Park with time to explore this wildlife haven. Perhaps try some canoeing (own cost) or just relax. Return to Adel’s Grove.
Day 6
Today we have a late start with time to relax before leaving after morning tea to make our way to Hells Gate Roadhouse. Camping with facilities.
Day 7
Shortly after leaving this morning, we cross the Northern Territory Boarder and the Calvert and Robinson Rivers among others on our way to Borroloola for a supply stop. Camping at Cape Crawford Hotel.
Day 8
Travelling the Savannah Way, we visit some of the sites in this area, including the southern Lost City. This Lost City has spectacular pillar formations and colours. Overnight camp at Munbililla Campground with facilities.
Day 9
Today we visit Roper Bar where Leichardt’s Expedition crossed the Roper River. We move onto Mataranka where we visit the Elsey Cemetery and Elsey Homestead. After lunch spend the afternoon at the beautiful Bitter Springs swimming hole. Overnight camp with facilities.
Day 10
Today we travel to Katherine for supplies and a brief stop. We then make our way to beautiful Leliyn in Nitmiluk National Park where we set up camp and relax in the water. Overnight National Park campground.
Day 11
Another short travel day. Travelling through Pine Creek turning onto Kakadu Highway to make camp at Gunlom Falls, in Kakadu National Park. We can walk up a steep climb to beautiful pools. We can swim at the top pools or a pool near the camp ground for a cooling afternoon. National Park facilities.
Day 12
After an early morning swim, we continue along the Kakadu Highway to Warradjan Aboriginal Culture Centre, to discover the Aboriginal heritage of the area. After this we will visit Nourlangie Rock to view art and spectacular scenery, return to Gagudju Cooinda Lodge with air conditioned ensuited rooms.
Day 13
Early this morning we do a Yellow Water boat cruise to see Crocodiles, bird life and the habitats of the region. After breakfast we explore more of the park including Jabiru, Ubirr and the Boarder Store, before returning to our accommodation. Dinner at own cost.
Day 14
Today we visit Bowali Visitors Centre, then cross the South Alligator River, one of the major rivers of Kakadu. Following the Stuart Highway to Batchelor.
Air conditioned accommodation with share facilities and a camp cooked meal.
Day 15
We have the day in Litchfield National Park today, visiting Florence and Tolmer Falls, then continuing on to Wangi Falls. Here we set up camp, close by is the relaxing pool. National park facilities.
Day 16
Start today with a cool swim, before dismantling camp for the last time and finish the circuit on the dirt road to Berry Springs (road closure depending). Your Oz Tours adventure end with a transfer to Travelodge Mirambeena.
